As per a few reports, the International Olympic Committee chief Thomas Bach is scheduled to arrive in Tokyo on 9th July. The earlier plan was to touchdown on 12th July but the new reports suggest Bach will arrive 3 days prior to the scheduled arrival.
Toshiro Muto, CEO of the Japanese organizing committee, told reporters that he has been informed that Bach will come to the country “earlier.”
Earlier, the IOC had confirmed that Bach will travel to Japan on 12th July, 11 days before the games open.
Thomas Bach was slated to travel to Japan in mid-May. But due to the coronavirus surge in the country, the travel plans were postponed. The exact date of his arrival is still not disclosed but few trusted sources claim the date to be 9th July 2021.
IOC Vice President John Coates has already arrived in Tokyo. Following his 3 day quarantine, John Coates made his first public appearance by visiting Ariake Gymnastics Centre on Wednesday.
The Tokyo Olympics 2020 will kick off on 23rd July and will conclude on 8th August 2021.
