Thus taking into consideration the previous World Championships, World Cups and Olympic games, Gracenote has recently published that Indian has a fair chance of grabbing 12 Medals including 2 Gold, 4 Silver, and 6 Bronze, thereby finishing on the 23rd position in the Olympics rankings.
Indian athletes have shown a stellar performance in World Cups, prominently by the boxers, shooters and wrestlers clinching medals in the respective world championship events. Yet, India is standing far behind the top contenders when compared to earning medals in the Olympic events.
The top performers of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Deepika Kumar, World no 1 archer is currently unable to sustain with her winning streak. Indian Shooter, Jitu Rai, renowned as the ‘Golden Man in India’ for his consistent performance in the 2016 Rio Olympic games is also witnessing pressure ahead of the Tokyo Olympic Games.
According to Gracenote, the United States is once again forecasted to top the table of the medal count with 117 medals. China is spotted at No.2 with a total of 87 medals and 43 gold medals. Japan being the host nation of the 2020 Olympics games is expected to gain the advantage of the weather conditions, with its vast improvement in the new sports as well as comeback sports disciplines like softball and baseball.
The Gracenotes prediction of India winning 12 medals in the Tokyo Olympics games will encourage the morale of the athletes and also boost their confidence to achieve the commendable feat.
