List of Indian Shooters at Summer Olympics 2020

It is exactly after nine months, the grand euphoria of the 32nd Summer Olympiad will be hosted by Tokyo on 24th July. Indians being the avid followers of the Olympics, the excitement is huge to watch the Indian athletes. Sixty Indian athletes have qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics and thus there is a reason for each one of us to encourage our fellow participants.

It was in the 2012 London Olympics, Indian athletes displayed a stellar performance by clinching six medals for the nation. Young athletes are working extremely hard to contend optimistically in the upcoming Olympic extravaganza.

List of Indian Shooters at Summer Olympics 2020

Indian shooters are performing outstandingly thereby winning maximum gold medals in the recently concluded ISSF World Cup, Asian Games, Common Wealth Games, and Junior World Cup competition. They followed the winning streak in the 14th Asian Shooting Championship event in Doha, which let them gain the maximum number of Olympic Quotas in the shooting discipline. With the consistent formidable performance, Indian shooters are aiming for big at the upcoming Summer Olympics 2020.

Following is the List of Indian Shooters at the Summer Olympics 2020

Anjum Mougdil

Anjum Mougdil showed a superb performance by winning a silver medal at the 2018 World Championships in Changwon, South Korea. Her South Korean win lead her to make a maiden appearance into the grand event of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Apurvi Chandela

After a subdued performance in the Rio Olympics, Apurvi has shown a significant improvement year on year thereby spotting a fourth position in the recently concluded women’s 10 m air rifle event of the ISSF World Championship.

Saurabh Chandela

Young lad Saurabh Chandela has gained everyone’s attention by winning a gold medal at the ISSF World Championship. He has secured a top spot at the Asian as well as Youth Olympics with the gold medals. With a score of 245, he is considered to be the sure-shot, strong contender, in the upcoming Olympics 2020 event.

Abhishek Verma

Abhishek Verma is another stellar performer, who has won a gold medal in the 10 m Air Pistol final at the ISSF World Cup in Beijing. His maiden stunning performance in the world cup with 242.7 points sealed his entry for Tokyo Olympics.

Rahi Sarnobat

Rahi Sarnobat was the first Indian women shooter to qualify for the 2012 Olympics in the 25m Air Pistol discipline. However, due to injury, she was unable to participate in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Thereafter she executed a comprehensive show at the ISSF Munich World Cup with a strong comeback after four years in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Divyansh Singh Panwar

Divyansh Singh Panwar is just 17 years old, but his achievements in the field of the shooting have so far remained unprecedented. After winning two ISSF World Cup Gold Medals in the Mixed Air Rifle, he is much more optimistic to secure the one at the Olympics.

Yashaswini Deswal

Yashaswini Deswal won a gold medal at the ISSF World Cup in Rio. Her consistent performance in the Asian games, with a silver medal in the Doha finally sealed her berth in the Summer Olympics 2020.

Manu Bhaker

She had the exceptional year of 2018, winning gold and silver medal at the Common Wealth Games. Manu also won two gold medals at the ISSF 2018 World Cup and now she is all set to give the best shot at the 2020 Olympics event.

Sanjeev Rajput

Sanjeev Rajput won a silver medal in the men’s 50 m rifle 3 positions at the ISSF World Cup in Rio De Janeiro. He secured a score of 462.0 in the final that led him to secure a spot at the Olympic 2020 games. Sanjeev will be participating for the third time into the Olympics and this time he carries a lot of expectations to clinch a gold medal for the nation.

Deepak Kumar

32-year-old Deepak Kumar will be making his official entry into the Tokyo Olympics for the first time. Deepak Kumar has won a bronze medal at the Men’s 10m Air Rifle category in the Asian Championship with a score of 227.8 points.

Tejasvini Sawant

One of the prominent names in the 50 M Air Rifle category is Tejasvini Sawant. She has shown a consistent performance by winning three gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medals at the 2006, 2010 and 2018 Common Wealth Games respectively. She has also made a mark with a one-world cup bronze medal in 2019 and one gold medal in the 2010 World Championship. The 39-year-old athlete is all set to make her debut into her first-ever 2020 Tokyo Olympic Sports event.

Aishwarya Singh Tomar

Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar won a bronze medal in the finals of the 50m rifle 3p event at the Asian Shooting Championship in Doha and earned a secured quota for the upcoming 2020 Olympics.

Chinki Yadav

Chinki Yadav finished at the sixth place with 296 points in the finals of the Asian Shooting Championships. She confirmed her place into the Olympics along with the four other shooters out of the eight eligible finalists.

Angad Bajwa

Indian Shooter Angad Veer Singh Bajwa made his debut entry into the Olympics 2020 event after winning a gold medal at the skeet event of the Asian Shooting Championships in Doha.

Mairaj Ahmed Khan

Apart from Angad Bajwa, another Men’s Skeet shooter Mairaj Ahmed Khan from India clinched a silver medal at the Asian Championship. He will be participating along with Angad for the 2020 Olympics event in Tokyo.
