The multi-times gold medal-winning US gymnast from the 2016 Rio Olympics Aly Raisman, recently confirmed that she will not participate in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
According to an interview published in the People magazine, Raisman said she plans to be in Tokyo instead to cheer the US gymnasts. The report simply confirms the rumors that were heard since the spring of 2018 that Raisman would probably not return to the Olympics, despite having won numerous medals for herself and the US gymnast team.
Raisman, aged 25, would still be remembered as one of the greatest female Olympic gymnasts from the US after setting several records in the Rio Summer Olympics in 2016 and earlier in the 2012 Summer Olympics too. (Also Read: Russia Banned From All Global Sports Events including Olympics 2020)
Raisman is credited with winning three medals in the 2012 London Olympics and then again thrice in the 2016 Olympics, only a medal short of breaking Shannon Miller’s record of five medals in each Olympic. The Boston native is most remembered for helping her team win the first Olympic team title in gymnastic in 1996 when she performed the last routine on the floor exercise event. Not stopping at that, Raisman went on to win a bronze in the balance and a gold medal in floor exercise, much to the delight of fans worldwide. After training hard Raisman again qualified to be a part of the US Olympics gymnast team and also earned the record for being the second female gymnast in 16 years to have been part of more than one Olympic gymnastics team.

Speculations are rife that the real reason behind Aly Raisman to decline to be a part of the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics are the recent revelations where she confessed to having been a victim of the infamous Larry Nassar abuse scandal, which she confessed to in Fierce, her autobiography which released in November 2017.
