The Indian ace golfer Anirban Lahiri has made a cut and qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2021. Anirban finished as the best-placed Indian golfer in the final of Tokyo Games rankings. The official rankings were released on Tuesday.
Anirban qualified at the 60th spot, the last available spot in Tokyo Olympics 2021. This will be the second consecutive time, Anirban Lahiri will represent India at the Olympics.
Anirban Lahiri announced his qualification via Twitter,

The Indian sports minister Kiren Rijiju also congratulated Anirban Lihari on his remarkable feat. The sports minister tweeted, “I congratulate Anirban Lihari who becomes the first Indian golfer to qualify for Tokyo 2020 after the Olympic rankings were released today.”

The list of 60 women will be finalized on 29th July 2021. The finalization will take place after the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship concludes this week. Aditi Ashok is hopeful to make a cut and represent India at the Olympics for the second consecutive time.
Golf was introduced into the Olympics for the first time since 1904 at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
